Last one

Last Journal I think I got a lot more out of this course than I thought I would.   There are several things that I will take on from the past fourteen weeks.   I have always wanted to own my business; I don’t know that I ever will as my wife is more risk adverse than I am.   One of the things that I took out of from this course is that most people come up against a wall and have a problem that they need to sort out and go about finding out how to solve the problem.   The difference I learned is most entrepreneurs have the solution in mind and work back words to find out how to achieve something to get the result they need to.   I found that there is no age to entrepreneurs, sometimes I think of entrepreneurs as young in their 20’s and 30’s.   From the videos and the reading that is simply not the case.   There are several people who become entrepreneurs in their own right and are different ages with different levels of academia and or skill. An...

week 13

I saw an add this week on Facebook and instagram for selling online personal development products and it looks lucaritive and attractive.  It gives you the idea that you can travel and have time with your family while making a lot of money.  To me it ticks a lot of boxes of what we have learned this term, I showed my wife and she quickly dismissed my idea and told me to just get a job and work for a company and that will bring us security.  My wife has always been more risk adverse than I have been.  With saying that I sat back and thought of what she was talking about and I do think that I could be and would like to be an entrepreneur at some stage in my life to the true extent of owning a business and doing something on my own.  However I also know that I need to finish my education and even more than that maybe.  I think this class has been great in regards to learning about who I am and what an entrepreneur is and what it means to be an entrepreneur...

Week 12

This week was very interesting as it spoke about different entrepreneurs looked at different ways that they could use their skill in finding solutions to give back and to make a contribution to the world at large.  I think it goes to show that there is always a need for something and there is someone out there to fill that gap and to find a solution for that need.  I think it is great that so many people use their wealth for good and believe that even if we don't have large amounts of wealth we can still give back. I enjoyed the videos and the perspective of those who shared their knowledge on the opportunists that they have had over the years. We also finished the book the Hero's Journey this week.  I found it very insightful with parables and pieces of advise that is laid out for anyone who is indeed embarking on their journey to find themselves and where they belong.  Someone like me I suppose. I think this course has been a great start to discovery for myself...

Week 11

This week was life balance which is good and how we priorities our business life and our personal life.  This can be a very tricky situation for some people depending on the type of work they are in either self employed or if you work extra hours or shift work. These are all cases in each of our lives that we have to work more at times or work harder for a certain time.  I think that communication is key to anything.  My wife recently started working at K-Mart and we now sit down and speak about when she is working and what the family can do when she is gone or how we can accommodate each other.  Last year I started to travel once a month for a week, this was an adjustment for our family and we have done well managing this and working together.  My wife and I have talked about this for awhile because my brother in law works a lot and the only time his wife really sees him is on holiday together however because he works so hard they have a lot of material goo...
